What is Subrogation

What is Subrogation?

Subrogation is the process of recovering costs for damages caused by a responsible third party.

The Subrogation Process?

All damage results from something!

When a third party may be liable, subrogation is the mechanism used to pursue financial Recovery.

The Initial steps in the subrogation process are the most critical in making a full recovery much more likely.

  1. Confirm a recovery opportunity and identify the responsible party.

  2. Place the responsible party on notice and provide them with an opportunity to inspect the damage.

  3. Whenever possible, immediately preserve the area where the loss occurred as well as all available evidence.

  4. If cost effective, establish if an expert is needed to verify the cause of the loss.

  5. Assemble a Recovery Package, Evidence is compiled to support fault and damages, typically including:

    • liability proof (reports, photos, statements, contracts)

    • repair estimates/final invoices

  6. Submit the demand and manage communication throughout the process to keep the claim moving and ensure a fair and full recovery
